Field Trials are of special value to breeders for the selection of working strains of gundogs, to shooters looking for the right type of dog with working ability, and to handlers wishing to gain experience in the handling of their dogs.

The purpose of Field Trials is to test dogs for their suitability as gundogs. The judge's task is the assessment of the dogs proficiency at work. A Working Test is a meeting for the purposes of holding competitions of a minor nature for working dogs.

Officials and competitors should make themselves familiar with the Field Trial rules issued by the respective Kennel Clubs, and insure that trials are efficiently run and are enjoyable and sporting occasions.

Any inexperienced handlers will need encouragement and clear instruction from Judges. Each dog should be given every opportunity to show his working ability.

.... Happy New Year 2008! .... Due to our growing family (we have 3 young sons) plus being pregnant twice in one's forties, added to increasing field trialing and judging commitments, aspects of the Online Irish Field Trialing Network have been neglected. Our genuine apologies for any disappointment or inconvenience this may have caused. Now that our 3rd baby has turned TWO on December 30, 2007, we are eager to Return to and Restore the Irish Field Trialing Network in 2008 back into an active and vital source of relevant information.

We are always here and willing to assist you in any way we can. Please tell us what interests you most, what you would like to see and know. Our primary focus remains tracking the British and Irish championships and archiving working labrador retriever pedigrees. Again, Happy New Year 2008! ....

Altiquin Dogs understands the needs of the field trialing and shooting man and woman. We understand and share that need for a high-quality canine working companion. Therefore, we are actively working to create an online meeting place for all of us who seek such excellence.

Although, as a budding archive (a collection of historical records online), in a constant state of development, we would like to *welcome* you to the Online Irish Field Trial Results pages of www.IrishFieldTrials.com. You'll find monthly calendars of Irish Field Trial events (starting with January 2002), as well as an Online Irish Field Trial Club Directory, which covers both the Republic and Northern Ireland. Temporarily, they are parked at Altiquin until more resources become available.

The Irish Field Trialing scene is both inspiring and rewarding. The people are fantastic and the clubs active and sociable. The online address: www.IrishFieldTrials.com reports on this niche and supplies its followers with access to its memorabilia. Read more....

IrishFieldTrials.com pays tribute to current Field Trial (FT) lines, pedigrees, handlers, and dogs. At the same time, it celebrates, commemorates and pays homage to past lines, breeders, trainers, and the great dogs behind today’s champions. In a nutshell, it's about Irish sporting dogs.

IrishFieldTrials.com delights in and savours Irish Dog History-in-the-Making in the most tangible way. It provides an online, chronological archive of Irish Field Trial & Test Results, a “Hall of Fame” which celebrates the group of people who have excelled in this arena.

IrishFieldTrials.com is dedicated to their honour and their accomplishments, and to every person who is involved in dog-orientated field sports.

Our aim is to build a comprehensive library of past winners, their pedigrees, their handlers, owners, and breeders, and the judges presiding over the competitions; and, to maintain an easily accessible, ongoing tribute to past competitive events and those who took part in them.

Through online monthly calendars of upcoming Irish field trials, working tests, and other events, our goal is to provide a community service which will keep field dog enthusiasts informed of future Field Trials and Working Tests, and their outcomes.

IrishFieldTrials.com is not only a practical resource for dog men & women everywhere, but also straightforward access into the world of Irish Field Trials & Working Tests.

IrishFieldTrials.com provides a service to the Field Test and Trialing Community offering:

Administrative Assistant for Clubs
By harnassing the power of computers and the World Wide Web (WWW), IrishFieldTrials.com is an administrative, fundraising and public relations (PR) service for all Sporting Dog Clubs in the Irish Republic and in Northern Ireland.

To compliment FT Club activities, IrishFieldTrials.com stands ready to serve all Irish FT Clubs by putting their club schedules and Trial/Test Entry Forms online, to automate some of their administrative duties while leaving them in full control.

Outsource it. IrishFieldTrials.com is a new hybrid of Secretarial Services, and more.

IrishFieldTrials.com currently focuses on Retriever, Spaniel, Pointer & Setter, and HPR events, and the various breeds represented in these events.

Field Trial & Working Test Results
The results for Northern Ireland (under the English Kennel Club) are displayed separately from the results for the Irish Republic (under the Irish Kennel Club). Within these two divisions, results are further broken down into Field Trial (FT) Results and Working Test Results.

Field Trial (FT) Results are arranged by these breed categories: Retriever, Spaniels, Pointers & Setters, and HPR. For each of these categories, there is a section for Novice Results and a separate results section for Open Stakes. Pointers & Setters have additional stakes, which are noted accordingly.

Working Test Results are archived for Northern Ireland (NI) under the headers: Puppy/Unclassified, Novice, and Open. For the Republic of Ireland, Working Test Results are organised by the categories: Preliminary, Novice, and Advanced Tests.
